Chutney

The word chutney comes from the Indian word chatni or catni, which means “intensely seasoned”. Chutney has been incorporated into British cuisine and from there has spread to international cuisine. It is a sweet and sour jam made from fruit or vegetables, cooked slowly with the accompaniment of vinegar and sugar.
Chutneys accompany almost everything: cold or hot meat, sliced poultry, cold cuts, cheeses, eggs or vegetables. They go well with crackers or fresh crispy bread and flavor sandwiches or toasts. However, they can be added when cooking other dishes and enrich their taste.
